Yagam’ is getting ready

The film ‘Yagam’ starring Navadeep, Bhumika and Kim Sharma in the lead roles has completed its shooting.

Currently, the post-production works of the flick is going on. PA Arun Prasad of ‘Tammudu’ and ‘Gowtham SSC’ fame is directing the film.

Raju and Praveen are producing the film on Silver Screen Movies banner. Bhumika’s husband Bharat Thakur of Downtown Films Pvt. Ltd is presenting the movie.

The flick is a romantic action entertainer. Navadeep is playing the role of a bar assistant working in Bangkok and Bhumika plays an air hostess in the film. The film has extensively shot in the locales of Malaysia and Bangkok. Manisharma is scoring the music for this film.

Other cast: Ali, Brahmanandam, Harshavardhan, Ajay, Raghubabu, Rahuldev, Indra Kumar and others.

Shweta Basu is upbeat about Ride

Remember the sweet looking girl Swetha Basu Prasad who scored a major success with her debut venture 'Kotha Bangaru Lokam'?

Currently, Swetha Basu is starring as one of the heroines in the multi-star film ‘Ride’.

Ride is now slated for release on 9th May.

Poster designer turned director Ramesh Varma is directing this film while Bellamkonda Suresh is the producing the movie under Sri Sai Ganesh Productions banner.

Singer Hemachandra is making his debut as music director with this film.

Swetha Basu Prasad said: “This is my second film for me after Kotha Bangaru Lokam. This film is about the value of friendship and is made on the lines of Prema Desam. Ride will entertain all types of audiences.”

Swetha Basu is also acting in a new film opposite Vaibhav in the direction of G. Nageswara Reddy. Popular director A. Kodandarami Reddy is producing the flick under K Films banner.

Now, it is known that she has been roped for another new film produced by Ratna Celluloids banner. Balaji N Sai is going to direct the film and it will be stated soon.

Veedokkade releasing on May Day

Surya is back in Tollywood. After Surya S/O Krishnan, he will feature in an action entertainer titled Veedokkade, the dubbed version of his successful Tamil film, Ayan. The movie has been produced by AVM, while renowned cinematographer K V Anand has directed it. AVM will release the film in Telugu with the assistance of Suresh Movies. A press meet was held on the evening of 18th April at Prasad Preview Theatre in Hyderabad to discuss about the movie. The press meet was attended by Surya, Tamannah, AVM Saravanan, and a guest from Tollywood director Sekhar Kammula.

Speaking on the occasion Surya said that Veedokkade was a very special movie in his career. “Veedokkade is my 23rd film. It is a dubbed version of my Tamil film, Ayan. The movie has broken some records and is in fact, the biggest hit in my career so far. It has collected double the revenue of what my Ghajini did in Tamilnadu. So, the movie’s success is very precious to me. I am sure that the Telugu version would also be liked by the audience here. It is not a regular commercial entertainer but a very realistic action movie. I don’t normally come here to promote my films but am doing so for this film as it is a very good one,”

He also said that the movie’s action episodes were designed in Yamakasi style. “Perhaps this is the first film in India shot in Yamakasi style, involving French street fights and acrobatics. We have roped in a Hollywood technician for the action episodes that were shot mostly in Africa and Malaysia. Director K V Anand has incorporated realistic elements in the action episodes and made the movie a unique one.”

About acting in Telugu films, Surya said, “I am looking for a script that is very unique. I want my first straight Telugu movie to be a very special one.”

Tamannah who played the female lead opposite Surya in the movie, shared her happiness too. “The movie is a big hit in Tamilnadu. Ayan in Tamil has brought me a lot of recognition just as I had got my first major break in Telugu with Happy Days. After its release, I saw the movie first at a small theatre in Pollachi and saw that people were hysterical. Later, I saw the same reaction from the theatre crowds in Mumbai. This is the first time that I am working in such a huge mass action entertainer and I could see how a mass movie has impact on its audience,” Tamannah said.

Veedokkade will be the 174th film for AVM and producer Saravanan said that they were planning to release it on 1st May in more than 200 theatres. “The movie is doing extremely well in Tamilnadu. After Rajnikant’s Shivaji, which we released, this is the only movie that is pulling such huge crowds in recent times. I hope the same magic works here in Andhra Pradesh,” Saravanan told the media.

Vimala Raman to pair with Tarun

Vimala Raman is slowly getting busy in Telugu. While her Evaraina Eppudaina is still under progress, she has signed on another movie in Tollywood.

Vimala has been paired up with ‘Lover Boy’ Tarun in a new film to be produced by Supreme Raju Harwani and Gogineni Srinivas. The film is to be directed by V N Aditya. The movie will be launched very soon.

Shooting for the film will commence on 26th May. Around 40 days of the shooting is to take place in Malaysia as this romantic drama needs the backdrop of a foreign location.

Allari Ravi Babu`s next with Bhavya Creations

Finally, Allari Ravi Babu has decided about his next film. He has toyed with several ideas after the super hit - Nachchavule but he has finally okayed the movie proposal by Bhavya Creations.

After delivering a hit with the Gopichand and Anushka starrer, Sowryam, Bhavya Creations has roped in Allari Ravi Babu for their new movie. Script has already been finalized but casting is yet to be decided. Currently Ravi Babu is on a holiday in the US and once he returns, he will decide on the cast and crew. The movie is expected to start rolling from June.

While his proposed remake of 13 B (Hindi thriller) has now been put off. Madhavan starrer 13 B is now being dubbed into Telugu.

Boni audio launched

Sumanth starrer Boni had its music launch on Monday evening (April 20, 2009) at HICC, Hyderabad. The event was held on a grand scale and the ceremony was conducted in a unique way.

Produced by Green Mangoes banner, the film is directed by Raj Pippala. It is a maiden production for the music director Ramana Gogula and he has invited all the leading music directors to the ceremony. Manisharma, Koti, Chakri, RP Patnaik, Sri and singer Karunya attended. They all wished him a great success.

Hero Sumanth who looked confident said that the film would be a special movie in his career. He praised the debutant director Raj Pippalla for the great visuals and the unique narration of the movie.

Pawan Kalyan to resume shooting

Power star Pawan Kalyan who is busy campaigning for the second phase of elections for his brother Mega star Chiranjeevi is going to resume shooting of his movie Komaram Puli once the elections were over most probably by the end of this month.

Komaram Puli is directed by S J Suryah of Khushi fame. A London based model Nikisha is the lead actress in this movie.

The shooting will go in full-swing till July. The producer Singanamala Ramesh now plans to release the film in August.

The Oscar winning music director A R Rehman is the music director of this film.Pawan Kalyan has signed up for yet another movie with Puri Jagannadh which is also to commence very soon.

Namitha dons Khahi

Namitha wears Khaki for the first time. She is playing the role of a cop in a film titled Deshadrohi. The movie was formally launched on Monday, April 20, 2009 at the Annapoorna Studios, Hyderabad.

Namitha came in a Khaki for the muhurat shot. The film has Shanti Chandra (who played a key role in Three) as the male lead and it is being produced by GVH Prasad on Sridevi Cine Chitra banner and directed by K S Nageshwara Rao.

Chiranjeevi for penultimate show in Tirupati

The Praja Rajyam chief Mr. K. Chiranjeevi is scheduled to address a public meeting in Tirupati on April 20th, the last day for campaigning of the second phase of polls in Andhra Pradesh.

To mention here, April 20th happens to be birthday of TD president Mr.Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

According to party sources, the PR chief will be concluding the campaign at Tirupati. The PR key functionary Mr. Allu Arvind and Yuva Rajyam president Mr. Pawan Kalyan will arrive at the pilgrim town immediately after the first phase of polls.

In view of the tough political situation prevailing in Tirupati, the local leaders are planning to launch campaign with Mrs.Surekha, PR chief's wife.

A PR leader said that at present it would be impossible for a door-to-door meeting. "So, we are planning a schedule with madam to cover at least important slum areas in the constituency," he said.

Meanwhile, the TD leaders are hoping against hope that Mr. Jr. NTR will get well and launch his campaign in Rayalaseema at any time after April 12th. "NTR will not be addressing road shows, but public meetings at Tirupati, Kuppam, Chittoor and Kadapa," a senior TD leader said.

Pawan to recommence shooting

Pawan Kalyan who fainted while addressing a meeting at Amberpet in Hyderabad has recovered since. He spoke to the leading news channel, TV9 from his hospital room on various topics including his current movie Puli. Asked when would he start shooting for his movie, he said: “I am committed to canvassing for 'Praja Rajyam' till the second phase of polling on 23rd April, after which I will recommence the shooting of Puli.”

He is also confident that his brother, megastar Chiranjeevi, will emerge as winner in these polls despite surveys predicting Chiru’s defeat. “These surveys have no validity. In India, most of pre-poll surveys by media miss the real picture. Look at what happened in the last elections, a majority of them predicted NDA’s win but Congress finally came to power. So don’t worry about these surveys. We are confident of winning a thumping majority,” he said.

He also stated that he would continue shooting for films even if Chiru comes to power

Allari Naresh-Kamna come together!

Hero Allari Naresh is going to romance with Kamna Jethmalani in a new comedy film titled Bendu Apparao-RMP.

Kamna Jethmalani was roped into this film as heroine by replacing debutant actress Disha Pandey. Although Disha was selected earlier for the film, she failed to impress the makers.

EVV Satyanarayana is directing the flick while D Rama Naidu is producing this movie under Suresh Productions banner.

Earlier it was reported that B Jaya of ‘Chantigadu’ fame would direct this film. But due to some unknown reasons, now the same script is being directed by EVV Satyanarayana. Giri, a student of Janardhan Maharshi is providing the story and Velagonda is penning the dialogues.

On the other hand, Allari Naresh is also working for the film Aakasa Ramanna in the direction of Ashok. The film is also stars Sivaji, Rajiv Kanakala, Meera Jasmine and Gauri Pandit.

The flick is said to be a full length comedy entertainer. But recently, the teasers of the film are indicating that it has got few thriller elements and also some traces of mystery and suspense.

Good response to Mitrudu audio

The audio of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s latest film ‘Mithrudu’ was released recently without any publicity.

Afresh, the reports say that the music is doing extremely well all over the state.

Mani Sharma scored the music and there are six songs in the movie. It contains a mix of mass, melody and romantic tunes. Lahari Music is distributing the audio.

Dusky beauty Priyamani is the heroine in this film. Mahadev, a protégé of Rajamouli is directing the film while Sivalenka Krishna Prasad is producing the film under Vaishnavi Cinema banner.

Earlier, he produced 'Aditya 369’, 'Vamshani Okkadu' with Balakrishna. Balakrishna is playing a complete novel role in this film. This film has the backdrop of Malaysia and Rajahmundry. The producer is planning to release the film in May.

Gopichand-Trisha film to be shot in Australia

A new film starring Gopichand and Trisha in the lead roles is going to shoot in Australia. Cameraman-turned-director Siva, who earlier directed ‘Showryam’ with Gopichand is directing the movie.

J Bhagavan and J Pulla Rao are jointly making the film under Balaji Cine Media banner. Taman is scoring the music for this flick. The movie has completed its some fight scenes in Ramoji Film City and in the surroundings of Hyderabad.

According to the producers, it is a mass masala movie with romance, action, family drama, sentiment, and comedy. We are going to shoot some scenes in Australia, which are key episodes in the flick. The shooting will be completed in May. There is a lot of scope for Gopichand to perform in this movie”.

The star cast of the movie Kick including Ravi Teja and Tamil actor Shyam were performing an action scene wherein they were smashing a glass window and the splinters hit Ravi Teja and Shyam, both the actors suffered minor injuries.

The movie also has Illeana in the lead, directed by Surender Reddy and produced by Venkat.

Kick is said to be a typical Ravi Teja style movie and an out and out action oriented entertainment movie.Kick was earlier supposed to be released on Ugadi but was postponed till 7th of May.

Bangaru Babu to release on May Day

Jagapathi Babu will have two releases within a short span this summer. While Jagapathi Babu’s maiden full-fledged political film, Adhineta is set for release this month, his other movie, Bangaru Babu is also due to be released this month.

The producers of Bangaru Babu have said that they will release the movie on 1st May. Although Adhineta`s release date has not yet been confirmed, it is learnt that the producers want to cash in on the election fervor and release it before the polls schedule ends.

On the other hand, Bangaru Babu, a film with sentimental values, is aimed at family audiences and will be released on 1st May.

Prabhas-Puri film from 18 March

Shooting of Prabhas’s Billa is complete. His next film in the direction of Puri Jagan will be launched on 18 March. Kangana Raunat is making her debut in Telugu with this film. This film will be produced by Aditya Ram who produced films like Sandade Sandadi and Swagatam in the past. This film will be released in the month of August 2009.

8lakh Worth Dress For Jejamma

For all those who saw Arundhati and have dreamt of a dress like the one the character Jejamma wore in the film here is a reality check, each of those dresses cost 8lakh rupees and if that is not enough Anuskha was also made to wear another 22kg (Yes 22Kg) of jewelry to bring in that out-of-this-world genuine look.

No wonder the film ended up costing 13.5cr in the making, but all this hard work and attention to detail has paid off grandly. The film is now being called one of the greatest hits of Telugu cinema, and there is no end to the records the film has been breaking in its march to the 100 days event.
